Public Art Audit
Lancaster, Lancashire
In 2007 The Hamilton Project was commissioned by Suzanne to undertake a full public art audit of artworks in the Lancaster district. The aim was to highlight best practice and areas for improvement, with a view to guiding the Council’s future public art activity. Each artwork was photographed and its condition assessed. Information was gathered about the artworks, and the document made recommendations for the future and a coherent approach to commissioning.
The project was commissioned and steered by Suzanne while Public Art and Regeneration Officer at Lancaster City Council, and her background research formed the basis for the document. The audit then formed part a report that went to Council committee alongside the Lancaster Arts Strategy.
